Filler



We just got back from a long weekend in Montreal, which was outstanding as always. I'm mulling a post on our food adventures there, or just a few thoughts on what is quickly becoming my favourite city. But until I decide on that, here's yet another quick pasta dish for your dinner tonight (I have a lot of these, don't I?).

Dinner for two



Yesterday was a Monday, and a particularly odious example of the genre at that. I shuffled up from the subway in a mood as grey as the February sky and dialed D. on the phone to discuss dinner. It was one of those days where neither of us were feeling particularly inspired, so I defaulted to one of my always-good-in-a-pinch recipes.

It’s a good one for bad moods. What hard heart can resist the smell of roasting chicken and garlic, the brightness of citrus and fennel? One whisky sour and a half hour of bustling in the kitchen later, my mood was substantially improved.

When a hot summer day rolls around, nothing hits the spot quite like a crisp, fruity wheat beer. Alas, while our winter has been unseasonably unseasonable, it’s not summer yet. That’s no reason why you can’t spruce up your February cocktails with a little of that liquid sunshine.
